Support Catholic Schools

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of a Catholic school education.

Each school relies on fundraisers, sponsored scholarships, an annual fund campaign, gifts and donations to help offset operating costs and subsidize tuition. Parish and diocesan efforts help create additional financial support.

South Jersey Scholarship Fund for Catholic Education

The South Jersey Scholarship Fund provides tuition scholarships to diocesan school students. Proceeds from the scholarship fund are allocated among the schools, where administrators make need-based tuition award decisions. Donations to the fund are accepted throughout the year. In the 2019-2020 school year, nearly half the students attending Catholic schools in the Diocese of Camden applied for tuition assistance, demonstrating a financial need of more than $11 million. From all sources, schools were able to help 3, 517 students with approximately $9 million in tuition assistance. Part of that assistance came from the South Jersey Scholarship Fund in the amount of $80,000.

Inter-parochial Catholic School Fund (ICSF)

Parishes contribute to the Interparochial Catholic School Fund (ICSF), a pooled resource for schools throughout the diocese. An oversight committee with a pastor from each deanery makes recommendations about fund allocation based on a review of each school and total available dollars.

Black Catholic Ministry Scholarship

The office of Black Catholic Ministry and Cultural Diversity sponsors scholarships for black eighth graders entering a Catholic high school in the diocese. Scholarships are funded with proceeds from an annual dinner dance and are paid during recipients’ freshman year.

David T. Coghlan Young Catholic Leader Scholarship

This tuition scholarship is awarded annually to three freshman students attending diocesan Catholic High Schools. It was established in memory of David T. Coghlan, former Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Camden, who passed away in 2005. The scholarship is funded through annual donations.
