On Feb. 14, Guardian Angels Regional School, Paulsboro, held its annual Senior Citizens Luncheon. Though traditionally held in person each year, the school has pivoted to a drive-through option over the past two years to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols. The eighth-grade students, coordinated by their teacher, Geralyn Cook, prepared more than 200 lunch packages in the morning and then worked together to check in guests and deliver orders to their cars. Each package contained a hoagie, chips, cookie, bottle of water, a Valentine’s Day greeting created by the younger students and a prayer card.
The food was donated by the local Heritage’s Dairy Stores and Zallie’s ShopRite of Gibbstown. Senior citizens came from around the area, including from the Senior Citizens Clubs of Paulsboro and Gibbstown. Food was also delivered to homebound participants later in the day with help from Sister Jerilyn Einstein, FMIJ, principal, pictured above.
