Assistant Of Catechetical Ministry For Religious Education Haddonfield

Position Summary:


Christ the King Catholic Church in Haddonfield, New Jersey is looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and deeply Catholic individual to fill a full time position serving the catechetical ministry of faith formation. The Religious Education Office provides catechetical instruction to 600 students in kindergarten through eighth grades. In addition, we prepare a hundred young people a year to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. The Catechetical Ministry Assistant reports directly to the Director of Religious Education. The ideal candidate must be available to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Education and Experience
● Undergraduate degree plus prior experience in religious education is required.
● Certificate or degree in religious studies, theology, Scripture, liturgical studies, or another related
field is recommended.


Essential Job Duties
● Assist in the overall implementation and on-going management of the religious education
program.
● Require excellent communication skills and proficiency in use of social media.
● Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Publisher & PowerPoint.
● Create, maintain and update family records, class records, sacrament records and assist
with record keeping in ParishSoft.
● Assist in the recruitment, oversight, and service of volunteers for faith formation.
● Coordinate liturgical celebrations, catechist training, parent meetings and social events
with DRE, Pastor and Parish Staff.
● Be a member of the OCIA Team.
● Maintain the Children’s Liturgy of the Word ministry.
● Plan and implement Vacation Bible School during the summer.
● Prepare and distribute appropriate resources for HomeSchool families and provide
knowledgeable assistance by phone and email.
● Must be available for major religious education events such as sacrament celebrations,
prayer services, retreats and parish events.


Qualifications
● Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
● An undergraduate degree plus prior experience in religious education is required.
● Certificate or degree in religious studies, theology, Scripture, liturgical studies or another
related field.
● Must comply with Diocesan Safe Environment policy.
● Pursue yearly opportunities for personal professional development.
● Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques.
● Understand the partnership of family, parish community and catechesis as essential
agents in the life of the parish.
● Display an understanding of and commitment to Diocesan policies and guidelines.
